Learn to paddle in a dragon boat with DragonStart. DragonStart provides you with a one-off free opportunity to find out what dragon boating is all about without having to commit to further paddling sessions or to joining our club.

Confirm acceptance of the WAIVER

Click on SUBMIT. We will be informed via email that you have registered. We will contact you to book in to a Saturday morning paddle (7.30am - 8.30am)

You will be provided with a paddle and a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Our Club regulations state that all paddlers who have not passed a Swim Test must wear a PFD.

Wear closed shoes and active wear that you don't mind getting wet. We suggest you bring a water bottle, sunscreen and a hat.

You will be part of the Saturday morning paddling crew, and our coaches will structure the paddling session to include your ability.

DRAGON PASS

If you wish to continue paddling after your DragonStart session, without having to commit to joining our Club, you can do so by registering for  Dragon Pass*.  Dragon Pass gives you 28 days' free paddling! Click on the link below which will take you to the registration page.

Learn to Paddle Program

We offer a Learn to Paddle Program once a year. The Learn to Paddle program this year is 5 consecutive Saturdays from 19^th September 2026. The first Come and Try day of the program will be held near Little Street Baths, next to Paradise Marina.  The following four Saturday sessions will be at our Boat Shed.

The Learn to Paddle Program consists of focused training sessions under the direct guidance of a coach.

*Dragon Pass

The Dragon Pass is a 28 day free membership to Dragon Boat New South Wales and Great Lakes Pearl Dragons.  It provides comprehensive insurance to registered members while paddling. The Dragon Pass is transferrable, meaning you can paddle with other Dragon Boat clubs during the currency of the Dragon Pass.
